April 2002
At the beginning of April, my wife, Rachel, and I traveled to Kalispell to attend the Montana Shepherd's Conference. At the end of one of the evening sessions Brad Brittson, a pastor who serves on the executive board for the conference, took the microphone and began to read a list of needs that God had laid on his heart. As he read them aloud, he explained that the Lord was ready to answer prayer for each of these needs.
Among the body parts he listed as needing healing was a right kneecap. When I heard this, an old sports-related injury came to mind. While playing football as a senior in high school I sustained a knee injury that has been nagging with me ever since. Since my initial recovery, my knee was never in constant pain, but it did bother me greatly from time to time - especially when climbing stairs multiple times in a day or after having my legs crossed for any substantial period of time.
In response to his offer, Rachel and I went forward and asked for any healing the Lord would give to my knee. Brad and another man began to pray and, after a few moments, they began to say things like,
"Ooh! There it is! Do you feel that?"
Since the knee was never in constant pain, I could feel no change. After telling them this, they took Rachel's hand and laid it on my knee. As they did this, she began to weep uncontrollably; she could feel the ligaments in the knee remending and reforming in their original configuration. I tried but couldn't feel this so I had no way of knowing that it was immediately healed. Ever since that night, however, I have been repeatedly testing the healing in various ways, and it has given me no trouble whatsoever! Thank you, God, for your gracious work in my life!
